Position the Base Struts
Take one of the base struts and place it as shown, aligning the two curved struts along the side of the crib. Then fold the short end locking hinge down to secure the base struts in place.
Repeat for the other base strut.
Now, both base struts should be secured in place by the side locking hinges.
